Record Store Day 2026 is Upon Us! Here's all you need to know...

Chameleon Records, are delighted to welcome music fans back to Holburn HiFi & Glasgow Audio for this year's Record Store Day event on the 18th of April!

Originally started in 2007, Record Store Day has grown into a global phenomenon with thousands of record stores around the world coming together to celebrate their unique culture with special vinyl releases made exclusively for the day.

Around 300 independent record shops all across the UK and Ireland are taking part and this will be Chameleon's twelfth year hosting the event in the Granite City.

With a huge range of limited edition releases from an eclectic mix of artists and genres, music fans determined to bag the most sought-after vinyl arrive in the wee small hours to claim their place in the queue. This years’ most sought-after titles include Taylor Swift, Olivia Dean, Robert Plant and there's even a double LP of local legend Annie Lennox’s 1995 Central Park performance. Chameleon’s list of titles that will be available on the day can be found at this link https://www.chameleon.scot/rsd26/ . All releases are sold on a first come first served basis, so this is genuinely a case of the early bird catches the worm!

Jon Turner, owner of Holburn HiFi, said “This is my favourite working day of the year.  Arriving at work to see a crowd of music fans, all happy and smiley and there to support a local small business is a tremendous feeling.  The atmosphere is always fantastic and there’s such a buzz about the place.”

Michael Moloney, owner of Chameleon Records, said “ This is our 12th year hosting the event in Aberdeen and we're looking forward to welcoming new and longstanding customers back for what promises to be a cracking day. Myself and Jon are very grateful for the help of our loyal crew of volunteers who help run our RSD event with military precision with a side order of banter, so there'll be plenty of familiar faces on both sides of the counter!”

The doors at Holburn HiFi will open at 8am on Saturday.  Following the initial rush there is much more relaxed browsing during the afternoon and we’ll be opening again on the Sunday afternoon between 12 & 4pm.

Glasgow Audio’s opening hours will be 9.30am to 5.30pm on the Saturday.
