Dynamics
Internally, the circuit design represents a significant evolution. Filter capacity, for example, has been increased by nearly fifty per cent from the previous model. Subsequently, this boost grants a remarkable 66% increase in dynamic headroom, now standing at 3.0dB. Therefore, the unit easily manages the sudden, drastic dynamic swings present in complex musical passages. Bass performance is substantially improved, presenting music with breathtaking clarity and virtually zero distortion.
Design
This amplifier proudly displays the timeless McIntosh aesthetic, yet incorporates several modern enhancements. The iconic black glass front panel now uses direct LED backlighting. Moreover, this provides superior appearance and colour accuracy for the illuminated logo and blue Watt meters. Four signature Monogrammed Heatsinks™ reside across the rear, efficiently connecting to high current output transistors. Building upon this, the entire unit sits upon a striking polished stainless steel chassis.
