Atlas Mavros DD BNC S/PDIF Digital Audio Cable
Atlas' new iteration of the Mavros Digital Audio Cable improves on previous models by using Ohno Continuous Cast Copper and incorporating their Dual Drain technology. These improvements deliver accuracy, bandwidth and openness over and above the previous Atlas Mavros BNC Digital Audio cable.
Atlas' finest wide bandwidth S/PDIF cable, designed to be technically and sonically superior, without the typical noise-related ‘glare’ freqently found in inferior cables. Recommended for use whenever signal integrity is paramount, for example between digital transport and DAC.
The Mavros BNC cable is engineered as a cable with extremely precise transmission and termination standards, incorporating the same microporous PTFE (Teflon™) dielectric insulation as the other Mavros interconnects. The centre conductor is comprised of a monofilament conductor and 18 strands of super pure copper wire insulated by a thin layer of microporous PTFE. This new dielectric behaves almost like the theoretically perfect insulator –free air – with minimal effect upon the signal being transmitted. The previous highest performance insulator, solid PTFE, has a dielectric constant of around 2.1 whilst the new PTFE (Teflon™) foam improves this figure to around 1.5, providing for a 30% greater signal velocity and better signal integrity, particularly in the area of high frequency timing and stability.
The co-axial double shielding layers are an aluminium Mylar™ foil followed by OFC (Oxygen Free Copper) braiding after which the whole cable is protected by a PVC jacket damped with cotton yarn. With a termination impedance of almost exactly 75 Ohms at 1 MHz and a low conductor-to-conductor capacitance of around 50 pF per meter the Mavros BNC interconnect perfectly matches consumer digital audio equipment to ensure error-free transmission of high speed digital signals.
The result is evident in the timing and dynamic range of musical performances where the temporal ‘smearing’ of lesser cables is absent.

Atlas BNC Plugs
The Atlas BNC connector is designed to maintain a true impedance of 75 Ohms from source to destination.
Ultra RCA Plug
The Ultra is a wide-band, OCC copper, constant impedance, self-cleaning, solder-free construction RCA plug.
In Atlas' cables, the conductor to plug interfaces are solder free, and the gold-plated conjugate brackets act as the return signal path, helping to reject RFI. Both conjugate brackets (these grip the cable without the adverse effects of compressing it, which can alter impedance) have two asymmetrical leaves which spring open on insertion and wipe clean the signal path. To maintain a clean signal path, simply remove and re-insert them periodically.
The Ultra RCA connectors utilise low-mass non-magnetic connectors to minimise the negative effect of excessive metal in the plug itself.
Ohno Continuous Casting Copper (OCC Copper)
The Ohno continuous casting method re-heats the extrusion as the molten copper is forced out of the mould and very slowly and gradually draws the grain or crystal down the conductor''s length, creating a ‘single crystal structure.’ Actually, because no copper is 100% pure, there will always be a few boundaries produced by impurities. The frequency of boundaries created are quite insignificant. A typical crystal in a copper conductor drawn to 0.3 mm diam. using the OCC process is 125.00 metres long!
The benefits are obvious, with almost no crystal boundaries, the audio signal is no longer impeded down the copper wire and more information and detail is delivered faithfully to the receiving equipment.
