Power
The internal amplification has been significantly boosted. Power output is now doubled, delivering 120 Watts total. Specifically, 90 Watts drives the robust woofer. In addition, the tweeter receives a dedicated 30 Watts. The woofer itself is now a larger 5-1/4 inch diameter unit. A reengineered enclosure design complements this upgrade. Consequently, you get higher output, lower distortion, and deeper bass extension than previous models.
Streaming
Streaming music could not be easier or more flexible. The unit removes the need for any dedicated control application. You can easily control playback directly from your preferred compatible apps. Built-in casting technologies include Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Apple AirPlay 2, and Chromecast. Furthermore, this device is Roon Ready. It ensures the highest quality network streaming performance. Finally, for wireless connections, Bluetooth 5.0 supports aptX HD for hi-res playback. The wired Ethernet port provides rock-solid network stability.
Aesthetic
The design reflects the traditional McIntosh aesthetic. It features a stunning glass front panel on the lower section. A new illuminated digital output meter dominates the upper portion. This fast-responding meter uses trusted analogue circuits for signal processing. But, it digitises the output into a pulsating, gradated bar. This shares the iconic curved shape of their classic meters. Hence, the unit blends modern streaming technology with legendary visual appeal.
